The BEST Weekend EVER!!!

Ryan and I had our first "romantic get-away" this weekend and it was the best weekend ever!! We started Friday night out in Banff for a sushi dinner and then ventured out to Baker Creek (on the 1A between Banff and Lake Louise) where we checked into our private cabin out in the middle of no where! It was awesome! It was a loft cabin with a ladder to the upper level, wood burning fireplace, little kitchen area...hmmmm no tv though. As sad as it sounds, we decided not to stay both nights because of that, and the fact there was no hot tub there either. Very beautiful spot, but we wanted a little bit of the "spa" retreat as well.

Saturday, we had a lovely breakfast (lox and bagels with coffee and Baily's) and then headed to Lake Louise where we did a day hike. We started with the Big Bee Hive then down around Agne's Lake to the tea house (which was closed) and then up to Little Bee Hive and then back down. All in all, it took us about 4 hours. The views were magnificant, the weather was perfect for hiking, lunch on top of the Big Bee Hive was spectacular and only having to carry the pack for half the hike (down hill mostly too) was fantastic!! We went to Banff and checked into a hotel there and hot tubbed for a bit to relax the muscles from the day. We took our chances for dinner and tried the Grizzly House. It was booked solid until 9pm unless we wanted to sit outside on the patio. Fortunately Rye and I are just crazy enough to do that, so we had our fondue dinner on the patio, which was really nice until the sun went down (just before dessert) and then it turned really cold! We were happy to gulp down the chocolate fondue and then run to the car for warmth...but what else should we expect choosing to sit on a patio in the middle of October in the mountains!

A chillaxin evening of watching a movie and crashing was all we could do that evening.

This morning, we had another fantabulous breakfast and watched another movie (I truly do not recomend Miami Vice...just not worth it). We headed into Canmore where the Vsion was having a climbing competition, so we enrolled in that and climbed the afternoon away.

We're now back in Calgary and I'm about to have a bubble bath to see if any of the muscles in my body will ever like me again (right now they certainly do not!).

I'm sure it will take a day or two, but I will post some picts soon from the weekend.

Did I mention that it was the best weekend ever?!

THE best weekend ever? I don't know, I mean I did get to go visit Sara in Dallas and that is awesome but best ever is a really strong statement. I think that in future you should avoid using such statements as they will only fuel the fires of controversy and disagreement that swirl around your blog.

Glad you and Ryan had fun. Sara and I had a great time too. Seperately. Well Sara and I were seperate from you and Ryan, not from each other.
